Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz (born August 30, 1972, in San Diego, California) is an American actress, producer, and author known for her radiant charm, comedic brilliance, and magnetic screen presence. Rising to fame in the 1990s, she became one of Hollywood’s most beloved and highest-paid actresses, known equally for her comedic timing, emotional depth, and down-to-earth authenticity.

Diaz began her career as a fashion model, signing with Elite Model Management at age sixteen. Her acting debut came unexpectedly in The Mask (1994) opposite Jim Carrey. The role of the sultry yet endearing Tina Carlyle catapulted her to instant stardom, showcasing her charisma and natural comedic instinct.

She quickly built a reputation for versatility with standout roles in romantic comedies, dramas, and action films. In the late 1990s, Diaz delivered a string of defining performances: the quirky bride-to-be in My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997), the lovable and chaotic lead in There’s Something About Mary (1998), and the conflicted fiancée in Being John Malkovich (1999), which earned her widespread critical acclaim and her first Golden Globe nomination.

Through the 2000s, Diaz solidified her position as one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. She led the all-female action hit Charlie’s Angels (2000) and its sequel, bringing both humor and toughness to the role of Natalie Cook. She also shined in more serious fare like Vanilla Sky (2001) opposite Tom Cruise and Gangs of New York (2002) directed by Martin Scorsese, proving her ability to navigate complex emotional roles.

In animation, Diaz became globally recognized as the voice of Princess Fiona in DreamWorks’ Shrek franchise (2001–2010), one of the most successful animated series in history. Her performance captured Fiona’s humor, heart, and quiet strength, introducing her to a new generation of fans.

Throughout her career, Diaz balanced commercial hits with independent and unconventional projects such as In Her Shoes (2005), The Holiday (2006), and Bad Teacher (2011), demonstrating her comedic fearlessness and emotional authenticity.

Beyond acting, Cameron Diaz is also a writer and wellness advocate. She co-authored two bestselling books — The Body Book (2013) and The Longevity Book (2016) — focusing on health, self-care, and female empowerment. After her marriage to musician Benji Madden in 2015, Diaz gradually stepped away from acting to focus on her personal life, family, and business ventures, including her organic wine brand, Avaline, launched in 2020.
